AWAKENING We simply argue that the cross be raised again, at the center of the market place as well as on the church building.  We are recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but on a cross between two thieves, on the town garbage heap, on crossroads so cosmopolitan that they had to write His title in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek - at the kind of place where cynics talk smut, thieves curse, and soldiers gamble, because that is where He died, and that is what He died about, and that is what followers of Jesus should be about.

Bringing the Gospel to the Portland State University Campus

Throughout a week preceding Easter some Christian student groups cooperated together to bring the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the Portland State University campus.  Many intercessors on and off campus prayed for this event which was a result of cooperation between four campus Christian groups – Campus Crusade For Christ, Baptist College Ministries, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, and Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship.  During the Passion Week outreach the students shared how they had crossed over the line and become public and they couldn’t go back.  

The students had gone from the public square of Pioneer Courthouse Square

with a "crosswalk" to the public square in the Park Blocks to 

“press the battle to the gates of their campus” 

and declare their relationship with Jesus.
